Thissio or Thiseio is a traditional neighborhood in downtown Athens, northwest of the Acropolis. It is a lovely green pedestrian promenade beneath the Acropolis that offers unique views of the citadel. Its square is located at the pedestrianized Apostolou Paulou Street and is lined by neoclassical buildings, cafes, restaurants, bars and the beautiful Thission garden. Although Thissio is considered to be one of the most sought-after areas in Athens, a long walk amidst the lush surroundings at the wide pedestrian will refresh you and you’ll find yourself in the midst of a calm and authentic Athenian middle-class neighborhood with many treasures to discover.
