A classical cultural monument of Greece, the Panathenaic Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Athens and one of the main historic attractions of the city. It is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble. A shining beacon of modern Athens, the stadium has undergone several transformations over its long history, but eventually became the home of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.
