National Gallery of Athens

Located on Vasilissis Sofias avenue in the Pangrati district, the National Gallery of Athens was established in 1900 and is considered one of the most important art museums in Greece, featuring more than 20,000 artworks. It is also known as the Alexandros Soutzos Museum and stands out particularly for its nineteenth and twentieth century Greek painting and sculpture collection. Mostly devoted to Greek works of art set chronologically within, the gallery includes paintings, sculptures, engravings, drawings and several other pieces that will impress visitors.  Beautiful pieces by Bruegel, Caravaggio, Delacroix, El Greco and Picasso can also be admired.
