Acropolis Museum

Featuring treasures of the sacred mountain, the new Acropolis Museum was opened to preserve and exhibit the findings of the Acropolis, displaying the history of the city and the citadel’s importance as a religious site in Ancient Athens. It is located on 15 Dionysiou Areopagitou Street, next to the Theatre of Dionysus, to the south of the Acropolis. The museum was erected just 300 meters from the Parthenon in the historical area of Makriyianni. The building was designed by Bernard Tschumi and it houses a large collection of relics excavated from the archaeological site of the Acropolis.
